1. Networking

When I attend events, I usually go by myself. When you attend networking events with a friend, you’re most likely going to stick with them the whole evening in a corner chit chatting instead of meeting new people. Attend networking events by yourself.

2. Email

It’s often said that networking is where the conversation begins, not ends. If you’ve had a great exchange, ask your conversation partner the best way to stay in touch.

Get in touch within 48 hours of the event to show you’re interested and available, and reference something you discussed, so your contact remembers you.

3. LinkedIn

You don’t necessarily need a business page on LinkedIn but you definitely need a polished personal profile. In fact, LinkedIn should already be a major part of your personal brand strategy.

When you publish on your blog — be sure to share your posts on your LinkedIn as well. This way you can build up your expertise and thought-leadership so your network can see what your business is about.

If someone views your profile, use it as an opportunity to thank them for viewing your profile and then include your written elevator pitch with a link to your website.

Businesses are built on relationships. In order to grow your small biz, you need to keep relationships strong and develop trust before prospects will jump onboard.
